ALCOSAN is committed to providing wastewater treatment services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. From our Board of Directors to our Executive Director, leadership and staff; we work to enhance the community’s quality of life and safety by protecting our rivers and streams. After 60 years of continued design, construction and operations of the sewer system and treatment plant, we now have 400 plus employees serving residential, commercial and industrial customers in 83 communities throughout Allegheny County.
Position Summary
Serve as liaison to schools, and service providers within the ALCOSAN service area. Provide after school programs and activities as assigned. Staff exhibits and create or facilitate hands on activities within the ALCOSAN service area at community events, festivals, science fairs, etc. Develop activities and programs aligned to PA Academic Standards for Environment & Ecology and Science and Technology and Engineering Education. Develop activities for the ALCOSAN annual Open House and Summer Science Camps.

Bachelor’s degree in Education with certification, licensure and registrations as required by the PA dept. of education. Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations or the equivalent.

Job Duties
- Serve as the main point of contact between educators and students and ALCOSAN utilizing various methods of communication. Responsible for fulfilling, delegating and monitoring response.
- Plan, coordinate, and/or execute presentations and corresponding materials to schools, home based schools, and educational organizations and associations.
- Develop and update educational materials based on educators’ needs, changes at ALCOSAN, and to meet state educational requirements.
- Develop new and innovative approaches to deliver organizational messages to target audiences.
- Develop collaborations with other educational organizations and non-profit groups to maximize credibility and resources.
- Assist with outreach activities as needed.
