Must possess a current and valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License, Registered Surveyor (Professional Land Surveyor) License in the State of Pennsylvania, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Remote Pilot Certification (preferred)

Position Summary
The Surveyor is responsible for performing surveying work for the Allegheny County Sanitary Authority.
Job Duties
- Serves as party chief/instrument person for surveys, maintaining appropriate field notes and sketches.
- Participates in and direct laborers in brush cutting and other necessary work required prior to, or in conjunction with, surveying activities. Also performs a similar function regarding location of ALCOSAN facilities or facilities impacting ALCOSAN systems.
- Transcribes field notes and sketches into compiled data, cross sections or drawings.
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, ArcGIS and other relevant software
- Obtains data from County and Municipality property records as required.
- Research property and titles, as required to support the Regional Conveyance division.
- Review metes and bounds and other property descriptions provided to the Authority.
- Review survey drawings performed by others to ensure conformance to ALCOSAN CADD standards.
- Understand the ALCOSAN Plant Coordinate System and how it correlates to the standard coordinate systems.
- Maintenance of a Monument and Control network for the Regional Conveyance Division and Engineering & Construction Division.
- Review of Contractor or Consultant Provided Coordinate files for completion.
- Operates Engineering and Construction Department’s Reproduction Equipment.
- Participates in equipment test, pilot plant operations, special sampling programs and experimental projects.
- Obtains maps and other documents, equipment or supplies as requested.
- Delivers or picks up contract documents, plans, legal notices, and other material as directed.
- Performs other duties associated within the Engineering and Construction Department as directed.

Ability to:
- Input and import data, in electronic form, via the computer.
- Provide input on proposed survey equipment purchases
- Operate an Authority vehicle(s) during the workday.
- Operate a Trimble GPS Receiver Equipment, Theodolite, transit, auto level, total station, and data collector
- Be able to seal easement plats
- Operate a drone to take aerial photos and perform surveying duties (preferred)
- High School diploma or GED required.
