POSITION SUMMARY
The Candor Underwriter I is responsible for underwriting conventional loans following established Company, agency and investor guidelines while utilizing Candor technology. The Candor Underwriter I requires full Candor approval to underwrite the conventional files. The Candor Underwriter I reviews income, assets, and credit criteria to ensure accuracy and completeness, validate findings, and ensure all requirements have been met to complete the approval process. Candor Underwriters will be service-focused with superior time-management and communication skills, able to multi-task, and possess keen attention to detail. The Candor Underwriter I must conduct business with integrity and in a highly ethical manner as a member of the ALCOVA Mortgage, LLC Candor Underwriting team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Underwrites Candor files that have full Candor Approval
- Reviews/approves income, assets, and credit to ensure data integrity and ensure all requirements have been fulfilled in the approval process
- Reviews/approves appraisals, contracts, insurance, and title work
- Completes rush requests for the team assigned by underwriting management
- Completes initial underwrites on files, as well as reviewing conditions and overseeing the file until its completion
- Works closely and collaboratively with loan officers/processors to ensure all appropriate data and required documentation is obtained
- Completes closing department requests for updates/changes in files that have been issued Clear to Close
- Works diligently to obtain Candor Clear approvals on all loans in order to receive reps/warrants on files

Maintains underwriting pipeline along with the above responsibilities which include:
- Reviewing Candor Findings and Loan Income Verification pages to confirm loan meets all requirements for Candor Clear
- Troubleshooting issues/changes with files during the loan process and work with the branch to maintain Candor Clear eligibility
- Working closely and collaboratively with loan officers/processors to ensure all appropriate data and required documentation are obtained
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE, AND COMPETENCIES
- Minimum of 2 years job experience
- High school diploma, or equivalent education and experience; college degree preferred or experience in the mortgage industry
- Knowledge of Encompass software strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of RESPA
- Basic underwriting, processor, and closing knowledge and terminology
- Highly motivated, ambitious, and driven to succeed
- Must be trustworthy, honest, and able to continuously display a high level of integrity
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy

- Ability to handle deadlines and working within banking guidelines
- Compliance with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws, and Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC) requirements is required. Employee must complete annual training in these areas
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a clerical office setting; climate-controlled surroundings with adequate lighting and little or moderate noise when in the office. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing and photocopying is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.
TRAVEL
This position requires up to xx% travel. Moderate travel needed by private vehicle or airline carriers with over-night stays in modern facilities at times. Regional traffic conditions when traveling by car to-and-from business appointments. Mileage reimbursement will be provided at current IRS allowable rates.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
