Education / Training : Education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent preferred;
specialized banking education and training.
Skill(s) : Strong analytical skills and attention to detail; Strong communication skills; Able to work in fast paced environment with a focus on timeliness, productivity, accuracy, and quality
Experience : Residential loan underwriting or processing experience preferred.
Work Location : This role is located at our corporate headquarters in Alden, NY. This role is on-site and does not currently offer a hybrid working schedule.
General Responsibilities
Responsible for performing a variety of duties to support the consumer loan function; coordinating work within the department, as well as with other departments; reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries or requests for information; assisting the immediate supervisor with administrative tasks to support department operations; performs special projects as assigned.
Essential Duties
- Assists with loan application processing tasks by the collection, verification, and evaluation of a borrower’s financial information e.g., obtains required information, compiles data, etc., as directed
- Coordinates the organization and procurement of required loan documentation, utilizing the appropriate checklist. e.g., financial statements, tax returns, w-2 etc
- Maintains required information and notifies appropriate personnel of loan information deficiencies as appropriate
- Assists in the preparation of information for various loan reports or loan reviews; e.g. monthly Board of Directors report
- Assists with presentations of prospective loan applications to loan committee for approval
- Assists in the ongoing process of documenting required collateral and monitoring collateral control records; reports deficiencies to supervisor
- Prepares a variety of letters and forms such as notice of loan maturity, request for financial information, payoff calculations, formal payoff letters, and mortgage discharge etc.; calculates estimated payments
- Maintains several activity logs to generate weekly or monthly reports
- Assists customers in obtaining specialized services from other departments as necessary; provides help to customers with specific inquiries or service problems
- Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information
3. Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace
4. Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the Bank's compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g., Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, etc
5. Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule; compiles information as necessary or as directed and provides data to appropriate bank personnel
6. Responds to inquiries relating to his / her specific area, or to requests from customers, other bank personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy
7. Assists the immediate supervisor with various administrative tasks to support department operations, as directed; may also be assigned special projects
