This position reports to the Chief of Staff and leads a team of certified credentialing professionals supporting all privileged medical staff at the main hospital campus and 4 external clinical locations
Responsibilities
- Manages associates, oversees operational processes, and ensures that the credentialing database is functional to credential and privilege new applicants and reappointments to the Medical Staff
- Ensures that Physicians and Advanced Practice Professionals are credentialed

- Serves as subject matter expert in medical staff credentialing and privileging, and other medical staff processes and their associated standards, rules, and regulations
- Includes but is not limited to state licensing regulations, CMS Conditions of Participation and DNV Standards for Medical Staff
- Serves as system administrator and super user for all databases and applications used by Medical Staff Services/Credentialing
- Manages user access, training, reporting, and implementation of end-user portals
- Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the credentialing and privileging database system
- Assures continued accreditation by maintaining accurate databases and reports
- Maintains systems and processes to catalog and track privileges granted to all practitioners working in hospitals and provider-based clinics
- Prepares and maintains cumulative reports to inform Physician Enterprise, about the status of their practitioners who have requested privileges
- Monitors credentialing and re-credentialing process to assure compliance with governance and regulatory standards, Maintains a formal process of evaluations, self-reporting, and monitoring of Physician and Credentialed Practitioner activities
- Gathers data for evaluation and analysis of confidential healthcare provider credentials for the initial appointment and reappointment processes; prepares information for presentation to the Credentials Committee for review
- Provides support to the Credentials Committee as needed
- Attends the Credentials Committee meeting, acting as resource for all credentialing actions being taken, and communicates actions forwarded to the Medical Board and Board of Directors
- Participates in other committees as assigned
- Manages department workforce in a responsible, respectful, confidential, and fiscally responsible manner including recruitment, on-boarding, orientation, supervision, leave time, performance evaluation, annual merit, and disciplinary action.
- Provides guidance, assistance, and direction in the Credentialing process; oversees adherence to Credentialing policies and processes
- Identifies training, development opportunities, staffing and other resource needs in collaboration with the department director
Required Education
· Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred
Required Licensure/Certification:
· Dual certification as a CPMSM (Certified Professional Medical Staff Management) and CPCS (Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist)
Minimum Experience
· 5 years’ experience managing credentials verification and Medical Staff Services department
