Summary
As a Marine Dock Attendant, you'll serve as the ambassador of the Hood Canal Marina and Alderbrook Resort & Spa Waterfront Center, often being the first point of contact for guests. Responsibilities include safe mooring of vessels, general operation of the Alderbrook Resort & Spa Waterfront Center and Lady Alderbrook, as well as the Hood Canal Marina. The role involves assisting boaters and maintaining a safe and clean environment throughout the canal and marina facilities. This high-energy position requires frequent physical exertion.
We're looking for someone who can...
- Adhere to all safety guidelines set by the Harbormaster.
- Deliver excellent customer service to guests and colleagues.
- Accurately bill customers and maintain storage and moorage records.
- Schedule and manage moorage reservations.
- Greet and register arrivals, verifying boat registrations.
- Rent recreational equipment, assist with launching and retrieval, and provide safety instructions.
- Clean, store, and inspect rental craft, reporting any wear or damage to boats, docks, lines, and floats.
- Ensure guests are properly fitted with PFDs and understand water safety.
- Assess weather conditions for safe watercraft operation.
- Maintain a basic knowledge of boat operations and maritime terminology.

Qualifications
- Desirable | Prior experience with working docks, marinas, water sports, parks and recreation, or other outdoor activities
- Flexible work availability including weekends required
- Equivalent education, skills, and/or experience necessary to perform the essential functions may be considered
Required Permits & Certifications
- WA Food Worker Card required within 14 days after hire
- WA Class 12/13 Alcohol Server Permit (MAST) required within 60 days after hire
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record

Collaboration & Engagement
As a Marine Dock Attendant, you will work under the direct guidance of the Harbormaster. In addition to your home department, you will regularly work with the Front Office, Maintenance & Grounds, and Sales & Catering teams. You will not oversee other staff and can expect a significant level of interaction with guests and the public.

- Basic written composition and general computer use.
- Intermediate comprehension, English (speaking, reading, writing), and math.
- Advanced safety-consciousness.
Learn As You Go
- Basic proofreading & documentation, wastewater compliance with the Department of Ecology, understanding of related industry terminology, knowledge, standards, and best practices, familiarity with Outlook (email and calendar), and radio/walkie-talkie operation.
- Intermediate inventory management, data entry, familiarity with phone and voicemail systems, typing, point of sale (POS) systems, and Springer-Miller Systems (SMS).

Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Physical Demands. The employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand for extended periods, walk, sit, climb stairs, demonstrate hand dexterity, reach, stoop, kneel, bend, twist, push, pull, jump, or crouch. They must regularly lift 40 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision. The role may also require sustained visual and mental concentration.
