POSITION SUMMARY
As a Restaurant Host / Hostess, you will create a welcoming first impression for guests at Alderbrook's Restaurant, setting the tone for an exceptional dining experience. You’ll warmly greet each guest upon arrival, introduce them to the restaurant’s offerings, and ensure they are promptly seated at a table that suits their preferences. Your role is key in managing the flow of the dining room, balancing efficiency with thoughtful service to make every guest feel valued.
COLLABORATION & ENGAGEMENT
As a Restaurant Host / Hostess, you will work under the direct guidance of the Director of Outlets, Outlets Manager, and Assistant Restaurant Manager. In addition to your home department, you may occasionally interface with other departments. You will not oversee other staff and can expect a significant level of interaction with guests and the public.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & JOB DUTIES
We're looking for someone who can...
- Understand floor charts, seating numbers, and restaurant layout.
- Maintain knowledge of menu ingredients, reservation policies, and host duties.
- Greet guests warmly, engage in friendly conversation, and thank them as they depart.
- Answer phone calls promptly and record accurate reservations.
- Seat guests promptly, accommodating preferences and balancing service flow.
- Provide waiting times, manage the waitlist, and notify parties when tables are ready.
- Ensure tables are clean, properly set, and ready for guests.
- Assist with clearing and resetting tables when needed.
- Open doors for guests when possible and ensure a welcoming atmosphere.
- Inspect and maintain cleanliness of the restroom and overall space.
- Communicate guest needs to servers and support team members.
- Work as part of a team to deliver exceptional service.

- Pay | $22.98 ~ $22.98/hr ($16.66 - $16.66/hr base plus tips/service charge avg)
- Hours | PM schedule, 15 to 25 hours per week
- Status | Regular Part-Time

QUALIFICATIONS
- Required | Able to communicate and understand the restaurant’s common language
- Desirable | 1 years’ experience in a similar role
- Flexible work availability including weekends required
- Equivalent education, skills, and/or experience necessary to perform the essential functions may be considered
Permits & Certifications
- WA Food Worker Card required within 14 days after hire
- WA Class 12/13 Alcohol Server Permit (MAST) required within 60 days after hire

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Physical Demands. The employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand for extended periods, walk, sit, climb stairs, demonstrate hand dexterity, reach, stoop, kneel, bend, twist, push, pull, or crouch. Occasionally, the employee may lift or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and peripheral vision. The role may also require sustained visual and mental concentration.
Work Environment. Conditions are typical of a hotel restaurant, with controlled settings, little variation in temperature, and moderate noise levels.
