Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Accountant to join our finance team on a part-time onsite basis. The ideal candidate will manage the financial transactions of the church under the direction of the Finance Committee and Business Administrator so that all income, expenses, assets, liabilities, budgets, and fund balances are accurately controlled and reported. This includes preparing financial statements and ensuring compliance with Aldersgate's internal processes and procedures. This role requires a strong understanding of non-profit fund accounting principles and practices as well as proficiency in accounting software and tools.
Duties
- Assist in financial management activities to support church goals.
- Verify proper authorization for expenditures and process payments to meet due dates.
- Reconcile bank accounts and prepare reconciliation reports for review.
- Reconcile credit card statements and post credit card transactions.
- Enter budget and prepare and review financial statements, ensuring timely reporting for staff and ministry leaders.
- Process bi-weekly payroll, submit payroll tax payments and quarterly 941s.
- Prepare and file annual payroll tax forms (1099, W2, W3, etc.)
- Process and post scheduled depreciation.
- Utilize customized church software for financial data management and reporting tasks.
- Collaborate with the Finance Committee, Business Administrator, church staff, and ministry leaders to provide necessary financial insights.
- Maintain accurate records of debits and credits to ensure proper accounting practices.
- Attend one evening meeting monthly.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of non-profit fund accounting and financial statement preparation.
