Aldersgate Special Needs Ministry (ASNM) is seeking an Activities Coordinator for the homes within our ministry. The Activities Coordinator is to assure that an on-going program of activities designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident is maintained. Aldersgate Special Needs Ministry operates homes for people with special needs in Columbia, Florence, and Orangeburg, South Carolina. are a private residential provider for adults with developmental disabilities. Schedule: 30-40 hours per week
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement activities, recreation, socialization, fitness, and adult-learning program for our residents.
- Develop a monthly calendar that provides opportunities for residents to socialize and enjoy recreational activities each day, including weekends.
- Utilizes the vehicles at the homes for transporting residents to and from community appointments, events, and scheduled activities. Driving the vehicle may be required if a residential counselor is not on staff or available.
- Takes a leadership role in decorating and celebrating the major holidays, including but not limited to Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, July 4th, Veterans Day, Memorial Day, December Holidays, New Years, Resident Birthdays and Valentine’s Day. Ensures that residents with different religious preferences are enabled to celebrate their specific holidays.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Must have a valid South Carolina driver's license.
- Must have experience with people with special needs.
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate Degree preferred.
- One (1) to two (2) years of related experience in coordinating, planning, and executing group activities and events.
- Communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing, with residents, staff, and families.
- Good organizational skills, communication, and public relation skilled, displays traits of creativity, flexibility, and teamwork.
- Able to proficiently operate standard office equipment.
- Position may require driving responsibilities (may use Company provided vehicle and/or personal vehicle for social and other various activity and program-related outings).
- Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; includes utilization of iPad/tablet and other technology devices.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
