What are the responsibilities and job description for the Music Minister position at Aldersgate United Methodist Church?
Overview
Aldersgate United Methodist Church’s Mission is to be a caring and affirming Christ-centered fellowship, lay led and community focused. The Music Minister serves part-time (approximately 10-12 hours per week) to lead the Adult Choir’s fulfillment of this mission.
Responsibilities
· Lead Adult Choir program consistent with United Methodist worship
· Lead weekly rehearsals
· Recruit choir members
· Maintain music library
· Select music (anthems, hymns, responses, etc.) for Sunday worship services and special worship (Christmas Eve, Holy Week, Ash Wednesday, funerals, etc.) in collaboration with the pastor
· Attend staff meetings twice a month
· Schedule and recruit A/V technicians for worship services
· Coordinate musical needs with slide creator and A/V technicians
· Communicate regularly and effectively with choir members, clergy, and office staff
· Additional responsibilities, as designated by the clergy or the Staff-Parish Relations Committee
Skills
The successful candidate will have experience in music ministry in a Christian congregation or a willingness to learn and grow in music ministry that serves United Methodist worship. He or She will be kind, mature, self-motivated, goal-oriented, responsible in meeting deadlines, and an effective oral and written communicator.
A bachelor’s degree in music or equivalent knowledge is required.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.99 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 12 per week
