Reports to: Program Manager
Location: San Antonio, TX
Employment Status: Full-Time
Operating Hours: 7 days a week, 5:00AM-8:00PM, including weekends and federal holidays
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position Summary: Aldevra is seeking an experienced Food Service Supervisor to oversee daily operations and ensure compliance with FDA Food Code and VA requirements. This role involves managing Food Service Workers at the Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital (ALM), maintaining quality control, and coordinating with the VA Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR). This position is contingent upon contract award.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Operational Oversight:
- Supervise Food Service Workers to ensure completion of duties, including snack preparation, sanitation, and ware washing.
- Enforce compliance with FDA Food Code, ServSafe standards, and VA policies.
- Manage scheduling and staffing to meet workload requirements for daily operations.
- Leadership and Training:
- Provide on-the-job training for Food Service Workers in food safety, hygiene, and operational protocols.
- Monitor and ensure ServSafe Manager and Food Handler certifications are up to date.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development.
- Quality Control:
- Conduct daily inspections for safety and sanitation, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Address deficiencies identified during internal and external inspections, including Office of Investigative General Food Service inspections.
- Coordination and Reporting:
- Act as the primary point of contact for the VA COR, addressing operational issues and coordinating corrective actions.
- Maintain documentation, including temperature logs, inventory records, and incident reports.
- Participate in emergency and contingency operations as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Security Requirements:
- Must be able to obtain VA badge.
- This position requires passing an extensive background check.
Workplace Safety and Environment:
This position is based in a food service environment, requiring adherence to strict safety and sanitation standards. Work involves:
- Standing for extended periods, frequent bending, lifting, and walking.
- Handling and operating kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, and dishwashers.
- Following FDA Food Code guidelines to maintain food safety and prevent cross-contamination.
- Cleaning and sanitizing work areas and equipment to meet sanitation requirements.
- Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), including slip-resistant shoes, gloves, and hair/beard restraints.
Qualifications:
- National Restaurant Association ServSafe Manager Certification (required).
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in food service operations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards (FDA Food Code).
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and telephone manner
