What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Validation Engineer, Wireless Radio Lead position at Aleron?
Description
The Staff Validation Engineer, Wireless Radio Lead is responsible for leading the development board level validation hardware and software used for silicon validation of Bluetooth classic and Bluetooth low energy IP blocks as well as other wireless radio blocks and related analog subsystems. This includes the development of automated test for controlling custom radio hardware and lab instruments, physical (PHY) interface characterization, radio power profiling, control and monitoring of radio functions, data collection, and report generation. The candidate will also develop and test low power radio embedded microcontroller software for communication to host devices and compliance test equipment.
The candidate for this role is expected to be in the office 5 days a week.
Responsibilities
- Development of embedded microcontroller Bluetooth and other wireless radio test cases and power optimization software
- Development of Bluetooth and other wireless radio software drivers, algorithms, application code, and automated scripts used for silicon validation
- Develop automated validation software to facilitate radio performance and behavioral analysis of related analog subsystems and silicon issue debug
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams to analyze, debug, and resolve complex analog and system level issues to improve radio and analog subsystem performance and product yield rate
- Create radio and analog validation test plans and regression test suites
- Lead, mentor, and provide RF technical guidance to other engineering team members
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
Minimum 7 years of experience developing Bluetooth (or other wireless radio technologies) microcontroller application and test software
Minimum 5 years experience developing embedded and/or DSP applications in C
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
- 2 years software scripting experience using TCL, shell, and/or python
- 3 years of experience with Bluetooth classic and Bluetooth low energy radio physical interface validation, compliance testing, and performance optimization
- Experience working hands-on in the lab with Bluetooth and other RF electrical test equipment
- Solid board level RF knowledge of radio antenna tuning, impedance matching, and radiated emissions
- Experience developing software and hardware for Bluetooth radio audio performance verification is desirable
- Experience developing low level embedded software drivers and application code for wireless radio interfaces, serial peripherals (I2C, SPI, UART, PDM, I2S), and power management/regulators (switching converters, linear regulators)
- Experience validating and characterizing radio analog subsystem blocks such as low noise oscillators, RF amplifiers, and power conversion blocks
- Excellent problem-solving skills and able to debug complex system level issues related to board level hardware and software integration, analog and digital hardware interactions, and ultra-low power management circuits
- Experience working with microcontroller SOCs that have a high level of both analog and digital integration
- Experience developing data logging, analysis, and report generation tools
- Knowledge of ultra-low current measurement techniques is desirable
