Job Title: Senior Power BI Developer Crystal Reports Replacement & Business Intelligence
Location: Remote / On-site (Springfield, IL)
Duration: 12 months (with possible extensions)

Job Summary:
The State of Illinois is seeking a highly skilled Senior Power BI Developer to lead the migration from Crystal Reports to Power BI. This role involves designing, developing, and optimizing Power BI reports and dashboards while ensuring performance, accuracy, and usability. The ideal candidate will collaborate with developers, business analysts, and database administrators to modernize reporting and enhance data visualization capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze existing Crystal Reports to understand business logic and data dependencies.
Design, develop, and implement Power BI reports with equivalent or enhanced functionality.
Integrate Power BI with SQL Server, Azure, SharePoint, and APIs.
Ensure data integrity, security, and performance optimization.
Develop interactive dashboards and reports to support business decision-making.
Implement data modeling, DAX calculations, and Power Query (M) transformations.
Optimize ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to improve data pipeline efficiency.
Apply best practices for data visualization and user accessibility.
Work closely with development teams to align Power BI reports with existing applications and workflows.
Provide guidance on Power BI governance and security (Role-Based Access Control - RLS).
Train business users and IT teams on Power BI features, customization, and report usage.
Document Power BI implementation, data sources, and transformation logic for future reference.
Required Qualifications:
5 years of experience in Power BI report and dashboard development.
Proven experience migrating Crystal Reports to Power BI.
Strong proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M), and SQL.
Experience with ETL processes, data modeling, and database optimization.
Hands-on experience integrating Power BI with SQL Server, Azure, SharePoint, and APIs.
Solid understanding of Crystal Reports architecture and reporting logic.
Ability to work with developers to ensure seamless report integration with applications.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with business and IT stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with government agencies or election-related data.
Knowledge of Power BI governance and security best practices.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
Certifications in Power BI, SQL Server, or Azure.
