What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jr. Network Engineer position at Alesig Consulting LLC?
We are seeking a Jr. Network Engineer to be part of our systems engineering team responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet Army objectives and SLAs.
Responsibilities
- Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches)
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
- Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
- Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
- Provide network support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the Army’s security team
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
Requirements and skills
- Proven hands-on network administration experience
- Understanding of networking protocols
- Understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
- Experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
- Active Secret Clearance at employment start date (an Active Interim Secret Clearance may substitute)
- DoD 8570 IAT-II Certification (e.g. Security CE, CCNA Security or other approved certification(s))
Preferred Qualifications:
- An Associates degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
- ITIL v3 Foundations Certification
