About The DoD Skillbridge Program:
SkillBridge is a Department of Defense program that helps service members gain civilian work experience during their last 180 days in the military. It connects them with companies through training, apprenticeships, or internships.
Service members can work in civilian jobs while receiving military pay and benefits. Companies benefit from skilled workers and can train them at no cost.
Installation and unit commanders approve participation in the program, aiding the transition to civilian careers. With written approval from their chain of command, service members can receive up to 180 days of permissive duty for this training. This allows both sides to evaluate potential job fits while gaining relevant experience.
