Job Description
Under limited review, the Geologist performs the functions necessary to assist in management and performance of science-related tasks under multiple task orders (projects) for contracts requiring environmental contamination solutions and compliance at various governmental and commercial sites. Ensures compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulations. Determines the proper methodology for scientific studies for individual environmental sites. Works within the project scope, schedule, and budget to meet project requirements for monitoring or operations. This position is viewed as a competent professional within the limits of experience. Performs field work and provides supervision of Aleut field staff and oversight/management to one or more Subcontract drilling crews deployed on field projects. Interfaces with Clients directly and through the Project Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provides direct supervision of Aleut field personnel and oversight of drilling subcontractors.
- Assist in development of Work Plans for the purpose of sampling, analyzing, and reporting concentrations of various contaminants and/or geochemical indicators in different media (including air, groundwater, surface water, the marine environment, sediments, and soil).
- Develop and supports development of: project figures, boring logs, and other technical graphic materials.
- Assist with various technical tasks such as work plan and report preparation for different types of client documents.
- Plan and direct various types of environmental remediation and monitoring efforts in the field.
- Assist in the development, production, and delivery of technical documents to meet strict project schedules and in accordance with applicable standards for quality.
- Assist in management of projects in accordance with the corporate and contract health and safety requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of progress reporting documents including weekly and/or monthly status reports, and others.
- Other duties as assigned.
Training and Education:
- Ability to obtain a DOE-clearance, ability to access a Department of Energy facility.
- Licensed Professional Geologist in Texas or capable of obtaining licensure in Texas.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in geology, geological sciences, or related field required and at least 10 years of experience performing science-related tasks on environmental projects in both government and commercial environments.
- ArcGIS and AutoCAD experience preferred.
- Broadly applied software including Microsoft Office Suite.
- 40 Hour HAZWOPER training required.
- Knowledge of and experience with federal clients, preferably US Department of Energy, etc
- Experience is desired in several of the following areas:, CERCLA, RCRA, and TSCA.
- Field work may be at hazardous waste sites and will require medical clearance and OSHA training.

The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal except during drilling operations. Work locations are outdoors.
