Summary
As a Summer Camp Instructor specializing in Tech Theatre, you will be responsible for guiding children in creative expression through technical activities. Reporting to the Camp Director, your role involves utilizing your core skills in childcare and experience with children to foster a supportive learning environment. Additionally, your relevant skills in theater and childcare or teaching will help inspire campers to explore their creativity and develop their talents throughout the summer program.
Aug 18 - 29 | M-F
9 AM - 3 PM
age range teaching: 6-11
Technical or Design Workshops - provide workshops each week kept very simple, but focusing on how to design/conceptualize (i.e. collage, sketching, shoebox set design, etc.). Hands on activities with a tangible completed project at the end of the week is preferred.
You'll want to plan for 30-40 minutes per activity. We are not in traditional theatre spaces, so there is not much access to equipment. Areas of concentration that are of interest: costume design, set design, props design, lighting design, makeup, etc.
We have 2 locations and would prefer the ideal candidate to travel between the two to provide these classes. Open to splitting the position up between 2 people though. **Other opportunities available if also skilled in acting or directing for more hours**

Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage with campers in various tech theatre activities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment.
- Manage classroom dynamics and promote positive behavior among participants.
- Collaborate with fellow instructors to create a cohesive and enriching camp experience.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in a camp or educational setting
- Strong skills, particularly in tech theatre
- Classroom management abilities to maintain a positive learning environment
- Familiarity with special education practices and behavior management techniques (preferred, but not required)
- Background in early childhood education or related fields (preferred, but not required)
