What are the responsibilities and job description for the County Manager – Alexander County position at Alexander County Government?
The County Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the county with 321 full-time, 148 part-time, and 257 seasonal employees. The FY21-22 Budget totals $65.7 million with a General Fund of $53.6 million. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:
- strong interpersonal skills;
- the ability to develop and manage a budget with multiple capital projects and collaborate with various partners;
- the ability and inclination to get out of the office and connect with the public, employees, businesses, and community organizations;
- the ability to communicate well with the Board of Commissioners;
- the ability to effectively mentor and manage staff; and
- ability to develop strategic goals and projects with the Board of Commissioners, county departments, county partners, and stakeholders.
The position requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation with a bachelor’s or master’s degree (preferred) in public administration or a related field, as well as 5-8 years of experience as a local government manager or department head.
The hiring range is $160,000-$175,000, depending on qualifications, with a full benefits package.
