Assists recreation staff with the implementation and execution of youth-specific recreation programming and activities. An employee of this class serves in multiple roles including timekeeper, scorekeeper, or site supervisor during recreation games. Work includes assisting with various recreational programs for all ages. The employee will serve as a minor official of games and works with other employees to ensure coaches and players have correct information during the event activity, including but not limited to operating a time clock and updating scores. Proper decorum should be used at all times and includes unbiased decisions and respectful conduct towards on-court officials, players, coaches, or spectators. The employee will be exposed to inside and outside weather conditions; and moderate to loud noise levels. The position is supervised by the Recreation Director and is evaluated by job performance, attendance, and overall customer delivery. Typical hours for this position will vary and consist of daytime, evening, and weekend hours based on facility and program needs. - Provides customer service and collects fees in a recreation facility.
- Ensures safety of participants/spectators and administers first aid when necessary.
- Enforces facility rules and regulations.
- Assists in light maintenance of facilities and recreational areas.
- Handles inquiries from the public.
- Attends training events for each type of sporting event.
- Maintains accurate ongoing information as the event progresses according to the event rules.
- Signs score sheets for each event.
- Opens and closes facilities.
- Provides oversight of the facility, including warnings or contacting law enforcement, to ensure a safe environment for participants and spectators.
- Maintains professional conduct at all times while focusing on the assigned duties.
- Performs related work as required.
- Knowledge of rules, regulations, and any other specific requirements for recreation athletic and sports events to which the employee is assigned.
- Ability to enforce rules and safety procedures.
- Willing to attend necessary training sessions.
- Possess good listening and visual skills.
- Ability to maintain professional attitude while performing duties.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently or as a team.
- Minimum age of 15 years old.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
