What are the responsibilities and job description for the Additive Manufacturing Technician position at Alexander Daniels Global?
The Additive Manufacturing Technician will support the hands-on fabrication of additively manufactured aerospace hardware. Following established procedures, work instructions, and sequences of operations, the Additive Manufacturing Technician will operate, maintain, and monitor additive manufacturing machinery, and handle powder. They will also ensure additive manufacturing processes meet or exceed internal, customer, and industry quality requirements, perform a variety of duties pertaining to the machine set up, calibration, and maintenance of additive machines and supporting equipment. In addition, they will build support removal, safely handle powder within the additive production process, participate in and/or lead problem-solving and continuous improvement opportunities while maintaining a clean and safe work environment, particularly regarding powder and chemical usage.
- Perform setup, operation, and daily maintenance on additive manufacturing machines - EOS and SLM.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
- Propose innovative technologies and ideas to enhance additive manufacturing solutions.
- Proficiently use hand, power, and pneumatic tools for various tasks.
- Handle powder, including sieving, sampling, loading, and cleaning.
- Conduct self-inspection of parts/components with keen attention to detail.
- Monitor builds according to a flexible schedule.
- Ensure traceability of all powder and parts.
- Document test procedures and results, suggesting improvements to manufacturing and engineering processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop manufacturing solutions and address issues.
- Uphold compliance with customer and industry quality standards and safety regulations related to powder handling.
- Contribute to company-wide implementation of operational policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Familiarity with machines and tools used in additive manufacturing operations, including EOS and SLM equipment (EOS 400, SLM NXG, SLM 500 for instance)
- Ability to assess performance and implement improvements.
- Strong organizational skills for meticulous planning and prioritization.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including proficiency in MS SharePoint and MS Office.
- 2 years of practical experience with Additive Manufacturing or similar manufacturing environment
- Able to work flexible hours, according to the schedule of the machine builds (General start is 7am up to 10am with a 8 to 9 hour shift)
REQUIRED: Compliant with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status (ITAR defines “U.S. Person” as a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident
Projected Pay Range: $30 - $42 Hourly / Full-Time / Overtime Possible
