Direct Service Worker/Certified Medication Attendant
Day Shift Available
We are seeking dedicated individuals for the role of DSW at Alexander Milne Developmental Services. As a DSW, you will play a crucial role in the care and supervision of our consumers, providing assistance in various physical care tasks and ensuring their overall well-being. Your responsibilities will include assisting with hygiene tasks, documenting consumer information, collaborating with nursing staff, participating in recreational activities, and monitoring consumer behavior and health changes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Check and record consumer conditions such as weight, food consumption, and output.
- Document individual behavior and activity into the computer health record system.
- Administer basic life-saving techniques.
- Direct and participate in recreational and social activities for consumers.
- Accompany consumers to external activities and programs.
- Collect specimens for clinical tests as needed.
- Assist non-ambulatory consumers with turning and positioning.
- Perform activities of daily living such as cooking, bathing, and grooming.
- Use appropriate behavior management techniques.
- Maintain cleanliness of facilities including classrooms, kitchen areas, and bathrooms.
- Launder and inventory linen and clothing.
- Attend and participate in all related in-service training sessions.
- Occasionally use a company vehicle to transport residents.
- Perform related duties as required or assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Valid driver’s license.
- No previous criminal record.
- Current first aid and CPR certification.
- Proficiency in computer operation.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds using proper body mechanics.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, push, pull, reach, sit, and walk for extended periods.
- Good vision and eye/hand coordination.
- Additional physical requirements may be added as needed.
- Corrective devices may be used to meet physical requirements.
