What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Director - FBC - Contract position at Alexander Youth Network?
The psychiatrist will be responsible for providing psychiatric diagnostic and treatment services for children and adolescents in the Facility Based Crisis Unit (FBC) at Alexander Youth Network. This role involves leadership, clinical oversight, and direct care delivery within the FBC, ensuring all services meet the highest standards of quality and compliance with applicable medical guidelines.
Responsibilities Include
Clinical Oversight and Leadership:
- Supervise all medical and clinical aspects of services delivered in the FBC.
- Ensure that services are delivered in a clinically appropriate manner and in compliance with North Carolina Medical Board guidelines.
- Provide leadership in the development of program Quality Management/Quality Improvement activities.
- Coordinate clinical team meetings with program managers, supervisors, and others as needed to address clinical issues.
- Ensure integration of care with primary care providers and facilitate linkages with other providers for additional services.
Direct Clinical Care:
- Oversee the clinical care for individuals in the FBC.
- Assure that treatments are current, appropriate, and in line with accepted guidelines and best practices.
- Participate in staffing high-risk cases with the program staff.
- Review critical incidents and participate in death reviews with appropriate reporting to local and state agencies.
- Provide direct psychiatric services to children and adolescents in the program, including conducting psychiatric evaluations and assessments.
- Provide orders for restrictive interventions and consult on high-risk cases as needed.
Quality Management and Compliance:
- Participate in and ensure appropriate oversight of FBC quality management initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant clinical standards and legal requirements.
- Cooperate with internal and external teams to maintain a professional work environment and meet the organizations mission, goals, and objectives.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure high standards of care and treatment.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Attend Clinical Leadership Team meetings quarterly to discuss program performance, goals, and updates.
- Exercise professional judgment in all matters involving clinical relationships and patient care.
- Comply with Joint Commission standards to ensure the organizations accreditation.
- Participate in any required training and professional development activities.
Work Schedule:
- The expected service hours will be approximately 30 hours per week, including on-call availability as needed.
