Pay & Perks
- $14.00 - $15.50 per hour
- $4/hour weekend shift differential
As a Lifeguard at the YMCA, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our members and guests. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing supervision of the pool area.
- Delivering a high-quality experience for children and parents.
- Enforcing pool rules in a polite, courteous, fair, and consistent manner.
- Upholding the YMCA's core values and commitment to safety.
- Adhering to all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety protocols.
- Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Certification (required).
- Passion for water safety and customer service.
- Ability to enforce rules with courtesy and consistency.
- Strong commitment to safety.
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit for long periods of time while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency; must be able to life equipment weighing up to 20 pounds or remove a victim from the water in the event of an emergency.
- Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
- Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
