What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Assistant Teacher position at Alexandria Area YMCA?
We're looking for an enthusiastic and caring Assistant Teacher who loves working with young learners and wants to be part of a nurturing, fun-filled community.
Your Role as an Assistant Teacher
You will work closely with Lead Teachers and other staff to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can grow, learn, and thrive during their earliest developmental stages. Your pivotal responsibilities include :
- Implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that promote physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.
- Implement a daily schedule that includes feeding, diapering, napping, playtime, and structured activities.
- Provide constant supervision and ensure the safety and well-being of children in your care.
- Maintain open and positive communication with parents / guardians, including daily updates on activities, feedings, and diaper changes.
- Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure a smooth operation of the child care program.
- Provide leadership in the absence of the Lead Teacher by taking on additional responsibilities and ensuring the smooth operation of the classroom.
16- $19 per hour

Monday - Friday 8a - 5p
