Summary
We are seeking a full-time Fifth Grade Math and Science Teacher to join our team at Alexandria Country Day School for the 2025-2026 school year. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and facilitating engaging lessons in fifth grade math and science. You will also be expected to foster a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, discourse, and growth. This role also serves as a fifth-grade advisor to a group of 8-10 students.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement creative lesson plans that align with Singapore Math's Math in Focus and Next Generation Science standards.
- Design and facilitate weekly hands-on experiments and labs.
- Manage classroom dynamics to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their development.
- Utilize various teaching methods and technologies to enhance learning experiences.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and improve instructional strategies.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and needs.
Requirements
- A minimum of three years experience in a related classroom setting.
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Proven experience in classroom management and lesson planning.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to engage students with diverse learning styles and backgrounds.
- Familiarity with educational technology and innovative teaching methods.
- A good sense of humor, a positive outlook, and an appreciation of the unique qualities of the age group.
