Summary
We are seeking a full-time Middle School Science Teacher to join our team at Alexandria Country Day School for the 2025-2026 school year. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and facilitating engaging lessons in seventh and eighth grade biology, physical sciences, chemistry, and STEM. You will also be expected to foster a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, discourse, and growth. This role also serves as a seventh-grade advisor to a group of 8-10 students.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement creative lesson plans that align with HMH Into Science and Next Generation Science standards.
- Design and facilitate weekly hands-on experiments and labs.
- Manage classroom dynamics to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their development.
- Utilize various teaching methods and technologies to enhance learning experiences.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and improve instructional strategies.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and needs.
Requirements
- A minimum of three years experience in a related classroom setting.
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Proven experience in classroom management and lesson planning.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to engage students with diverse learning styles and backgrounds.
- Familiarity with educational technology and innovative teaching methods.
- A good sense of humor, a positive outlook, and an appreciation of the unique qualities of the age group.
