General Definition of Work:
Performs intermediate semiskilled work maintaining an attractive, sanitary and safe facility for students, staff and members of the public; providing furniture and equipment for meetings or events; performs minor repairs and preventative maintenance, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the Building Principal. Occasional oversight is exercised over custodians.
Essential Functions:
Maintains heating ventilation and air conditioning systems; monitors door security system, program for events and proper function; monitors lighting control system; activate and deactivate alarm system; monitors automated building controls and mechanical equipment.
Schedules and assists in repairs and maintenance of buildings and equipment; (repairs furniture, lighting, locks, windows, ceiling tiles, filters etc.); performs maintenance as needed.
Supports building maintenance and cleaning as required; cleans, scrubs, strips, waxes, buffs and sweeps floors; vacuums carpets; responds to emergency clean-ups; replaces lights and ballasts; performs minor plumbing repairs; assists with lunch clean-up; clears snow and ice from District property.
Provides work direction and/or duties for evening staff; trains new and existing custodial staff.
Complete pre-order form for cleaning supplies; assists in shipping and receiving; insures proper labeling of chemicals and instructions.
Informs students, staff and visitors on safety issues and the proper use and maintenance of facilities; provides instruction to students and volunteers assigned for event set-up or clean-up.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in a custodial or mechanical environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Boiler's license must be acquired within 6 months of employment in this position.
Compensation: $23.61 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
