What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Caring Ministries position at Aley United Methodist Church?

The Director supports the mission of the church to Love God, Love People and Make Disciples. The staff position is up to 10 hours per week with a focus on the needs of the congregation and community.
The Director of Caring Ministries works within the 10 hours per week to prepare and deliver quality ministry that is based on the specific duties of the position.
We Are Looking for These Qualifications
Required:
- A strong and committed Christian belief with a desire to serve in a church community
- Experience in local church leadership roles ministering to others
- Good administrative and communication skills
- Ability to train and coach others
- Ability to establish and conduct training programs that relate to caring ministries, such as equipping Care Partner team members with the tools to journey alongside those who are facing some crisis in life; for instance: illness, death of a loved one, divorce, relocation, or financial
- Capability to evaluate, coordinate and direct servant volunteers
- Strong listening skills; ability to work as a team player
We Prefer a Person With:
- A relevant degree, such as counseling or social work, from an accredited college or university and/or previous experience in a similar church position
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Overall Caring Ministries:
- Create, maintain and encourage participation in Caring Ministries, and recruit volunteers
- Provide continued education of Caring Ministries with communication in the church publications i.e. Sunday announcements, newsletter articles, online, etc.
- Coordinating with pastors for needed pastoral visits to congregants
Care Partners:
- Recruit, train, commission and assign Care Partners to their congregation member in coordination with the Lead Pastor
- Mentor the Care Partners
- Provide continuing education twice a year for Care Partners
- Provide care and assistance to Care Partners in their duties as needed
Grief Ministry:
- Send condolence cards (this includes a one year follow-up card)
- Share information and literature on grief
- Start grief share groups as needed, in coordination with Lead Pastor
Other Programs/Needs Managed by the Director of Care
- Oversee Emergency Assistance Fund
- Coordinate providing meals or meeting other needs on a short-term basis for parishioners
- Plan annual Christmas caroling for shut-ins
- Arrange communion for shut-ins or others who desire to have it in their homes, in coordination with the Lead Pastor
- Coordinate any physical assistance requests or equipment usage (such as crutches, wheelchairs, etc.)
- Plan quarterly events for seniors, both information and fellowship types of events
