POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist in the daily operation of the camp through supervision of staff, camper, and programs each day. They will also supervise specialist areas including archery, boating, athletics, arts and crafts, theatre, outdoor education, ropes and theme activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist the Camp Director and Day Camp Coordinator in carrying out daily camp programming through direct involvement with staff and campers.
- Provide council, advice, and daily supervision for day camp staff.
- Assist in the development of session themes and implementation of special events.
- Lead by example and direction, expressing the importance of YMCA values, camper safety, and enthusiastic fulfillment of program objectives.
- Provides indirect supervision to all campers.
- Meets weekly with the other senior counselors and the camp director to review program plans, plan future events, and to discuss camp related issues.
- Participation in all special events, and pre-camp training.
- Communicate with counselors within the day camp regarding activities, camp policies and procedures, and to evaluate staff competence.
- Observe camper behavior, assess appropriateness enforce appropriate safety regulations or emergency procedures, apply appropriate management techniques.
- Observe specialist locations, including safety concerns, specialist interactions with campers and help specialists plan creative activities for their programs.
WORK SCEHDULE:
Seasonal / Monday-Friday: 7:30am-4:15pm

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
- 1-2 years experience in day and/or resident camping
- 1-2 years experience in staff supervision or related leadership experiences with other adults
- Preferred experience in some of, if not all, specialist activities offered at Camp Tracy
- At least one year working with elementary age children
