Algafeed is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our innovative team. Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, count, and analyze microalgae culture samples.
- Monitor and regulate pH, temperature, and salinity of microalgae cultures.
- Measure the concentration of fertilizers in cultures to react appropriately to daily changes in the microalgae.
- Prepare and sterilize vessels, fertilizers, and other chemical solutions to maintain contamination free cultures.
- Handle and store chemicals in accordance with safety requirements outlined in SOPs.
- Record detailed, accurate data both digitally and in print.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system alarms.
- Use steam autoclave and ozone generator to sterilize various vessels and solutions.
- Attend training as necessary to maintain knowledge of technology and functions.
- Adhere to Algafeed security guidelines and ensure the appropriate handling and use of equipment, tools, and sensitive information.
- Attend staff meetings to promote communication and unified execution of shared goals.
- Complete special projects and experiments specific to the function of the department as directed by the Laboratory Manager.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, microbiology, botany, or a related field.
- Previous laboratory experience is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with flow cytometry, spectrophotometry, and microscopy.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a responsible work ethic.
