Senior Network Engineer – Network Engineering Team
Our client, an industry leading quantitative trading firm and market maker, is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join their growing network engineering team in Chicago. The firm prides itself on its collaborative and technologically focused approach, always trying to improve and implement new technologies while working together and sharing ideas with industry leaders.
As a Senior Network Engineer you will be collaborating with members of the Systems and Trading Operations teams to monitor the low-latency trading network. To succeed you will need to have both a technical and a project management background. You should also always keep your self updated on the latest technologies and research that you could implement.
Responsibilities
- Take charge of the network design, product selection, routing, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate and effectively communicate with your team as well as other teams to advance the firms research culture.
- Help mentor more junior staff within your team.
- Improve the efficiency of networks and implement new strategies to continue pushing the limits.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science or a related field.
- Years of experience working with low-latency and high-frequency trading environments.
- In depth understanding of common layer 2 and layer 3 network protocols and best practices; working knowledge of OSPF, BGP, PIM, IGMP.
- Experience utilising Arista, Cisco and other networking devices on a regular basis.
- Experience in designing enterprise networks, capacity planning, and full lifecycle project management
- Experience in designing enterprise networks, capacity planning, and full lifecycle project management
- Experience with packet decoding and analysis tools such as Wireshark and tcdump.
- Experience with Unix/Linux command line utilities and networking stack, Python, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, GitHub
- Experience working with cloud networks such as AWS, GCP, Azure.
