Senior Site Reliability Engineer - Observability and Automation
A leading high-frequency trading firm is seeking a mid to senior-level Site Reliability Engineer with deep Kubernetes experience to join their Infrastructure team in Chicago focusing on observability and automation. The position offers flexible work arrangements with 3 days in office.
The Infrastructure team provides scalable on-premises cloud and application orchestration services for trading desks, data scientists, and enterprise application teams enabling teams to focus on their business objectives by providing simple, scalable solutions using off-the-shelf tools and the right amount of focused engineering. The role involves working cross-functionally to successfully onboard applications and services to the Kubernetes infrastructure while providing ongoing support and continuous improvement to existing toolchains.
What you'll do:
- Own and improve patterns, processes, and standards for migrating applications to the Kubernetes platform
- Work with different teams to ensure successful onboarding of applications into Kubernetes environment, and promote the platform with demos, lightning talks, and presentations
- Relentlessly automate repetitive manual tasks
Your background:
- Multiple years of Kubernetes and Linux operations experience
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals
- Experience automating deployments and image builds using CI/CD pipelines and a variety of languages
- Familiarity with AWS managed services (EKS, S3, EC2, etc.)
- A service-focused attitude: asking questions and focusing on getting the right resources and solutions to people instead of rigid boundaries
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Flux, Fluent Bit/Fluentd, Prometheus, Ingress-Nginx, Cilium, Terraform/Terragrunt
- Experience developing, deploying, and supporting full-stack web applications
- Experience with multiple programming languages in both greenfield development and legacy maintenance
