GENERAL DESCRIPTION (1-3 LINES DESCRIBING ROLE): |

The Social Studies Teacher is responsible for creating a classroom environment that develops students’ knowledge of history, civics, economics, and geography, while fostering critical thinking, civic responsibility, and effective communication. The teacher promotes inquiry, analysis, and discussion of diverse perspectives to prepare students for engaged citizenship and lifelong learning.
This position will begin on May 5 and will continue through to the end of the school year, on June 17. The classes this individual will teach are US History I (4 sections) and Criminal Justice in America (1 section). |

Work Environment: Work is generally performed in a school environment during the school day; however, there may be occasions for after-school meetings. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the teacher is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear. The teacher is regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch and/or kneel. The teacher is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Must have sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building.
