What are the responsibilities and job description for the 25-26 school year Assistant I,II,III Preschool position at Alhambra Elementary School District?
JOB DESCRIPTION: To work closely with teachers, parents, and agencies with support and training to enhance the Preschool program and student achievement. To assist staff members by performing a variety of tasks related to the operation of classrooms or other instructional areas.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent. Agree to enroll in Early Childhood Education and Child Development college courses within 6 (six) months of employment. Complete CDA in two years. Must be at least 18 years of age. Previous experience in the field of Early Childhood Education preferred. Provide evidence of Level One fingerprint clearance card and obtain a fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety within twelve weeks of employment, negative TB clearance within the last 12 months, and current immunizations. Provide evidence of an initial health exam within the last 12 months, CPR/First Aid Certification and Maricopa County Environmental Services Food Handler’s Card are required. All certifications must be maintained in a current status.
Ability to kneel, stoop, bend, and sit on the floor to attend to children’s needs. Ability to lift up to fifty pounds when required. Desire to pursue additional training in job-related areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the teacher with team planning and carrying out classroom activities for children 3, 4, and 5 years old, including those with special needs and specialized equipment.
- Participate as a co-teacher in all phases of the school day, including outdoor activities.
- Participate in required workshops and annual licensing training.
- Acquire a CDA within two years of hire, continue with college courses towards an Associate of Arts Degree, and attain other educational growth.
- Actively supervise children throughout the entire school day.
- Assume the leadership of the class in the teacher’s absence.
- Attend required meetings, conduct parent conferences, and go on home visits (two per year).
- Help with meal service and cleanup.
- Assist in maintaining discipline and order in the classroom.
- Work with small groups of children based on individual needs.
- Help with the maintenance of an attractive and clean preschool environment.
- Help with the assessment of children and the documentation of compliance with varied programs and performance standards.
- Develop and maintain a respectful relationship with each family.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SALARY: Full-Time Nine-month year, beginning salary Level 26,28,29 employee benefits in accordance with Board Policies.
EVALUATION: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy on the evaluation of support personnel.
