What are the responsibilities and job description for the FT Day Time Youth Counselor position at Ali Forney Center?
FUNCTION
This full-time position (35 hours/week) will provide coverage for the Drop-in Center. Youth Counselors create and supervise a safe, affirming environment for clients to meet their needs and progress on goals. This position will help manage the Welcome Desk and provide general support to the Drop-in Center.
TOP RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and supervise youth in program to provide a safe, clean and secure environment
- Provide coverage for Welcome Desk & Reception at Drop-in for 5 hours/day
- Maintain a safe, respectful, hospitable, and professional atmosphere
- Help maintain consistency in delivery of services and with regards to programmatic policies
- Document daily services, and maintain data, as needed.
- Communicate with treatment team, IT and Facilities, and program supervisors.
- Attend mandatory staff meetings and regular supervision
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

[ ] Undergraduate Degree
[ ] Masters Degree
Training/Experience in youth social services required.
TECHNICAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Computer knowledge and competent writing skills.
QUALIFICATION NEEDED
Must be highly organized and able to work independently. Experience working with adolescent/young adult population required. Knowledge of psychosocial needs of LGBTQ/homeless population is helpful. Experience in individual and group behavioral counseling. Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays. Youth Counselors are required to remain awake for the entire duration of their shifts. Transgender and gender non-conforming people are encouraged to apply.
