PART TWO: FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY

As part of the Nursing team, and at the direction of the Registered Nurse, is integral in supporting patient and clinic flow.

Performance Expectation
- Attends/assists providers with office procedures
- Takes patient vital signs, obtains nursing documentation information and records findings in medical record.
- Reports abnormal results to the provider promptly
- Procures specimens following established protocols, procedures, and policies
- Routes telephone calls and messages to providers, ensuring they are informed of messages requiring immediate response. All messages should be returned on the day of receipt, if possible
- Ensures that patients are prepared and ready to be seen by the provider at the time of their scheduled appointment
- Keeps patients fully informed of any reasons for delays and offers the opportunity to reschedule if the patient cannot or does not want to wait
- Prepares examination rooms and instrument set ups as required by the provider
- Complies with established policies and procedures for the disposal of medical waste policies
- Ensures instruments are cleaned and prepared for sterilization as required by policy and infection control policies
- Inventories supplies and place orders as appropriate
- Maintains adequate supply of patient educational materials
- Maintains all clinical areas in a neat and orderly manner at all times
- Performs other duties as assigned.
