Primary Purpose:
To provide supportive assistance to the Special Education department through managing the SHARS documentation application including training staff, monitoring revenue recovery, ensuring the documentation of SHARS activities provided by staff, and assisting the district in monitoring SHARS/MAC regulations.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized, accredited college or university
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of SHARS/Medicaid documentation systems
- Knowledge of IEP and ARD meeting requirements
- Proficiency in oral and written communication
- Able to interact with diverse groups of professionals and individuals
- Able to interpret instructions and handle multiple tasks
- Exemplary organizational skills
- Experience using online systems such as Office 365, Excel, Word, etc.
Experience:
- Three (3) years or more experience in the SHARS/Medicaid industry
- Experience presenting professional development
- Experience in Special Education, preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Program Management
- Assist with review/revision/development of district procedures and practices to ensure compliance with local policy, state regulation and federal legislation regarding school-based Medicaid.
- Responsible for submission of Medicaid/SHARS billing.
- Assist in collection/organization/maintenance of data needed to ensure compliance with local policy, state regulations and federal legislation regarding school-based Medicaid.
- Accurately maintain the Participant List for the Random Moment in Time Study.
- Train staff included on the Participant List in order for them to correctly respond to the Random Moment in Time Study.
- Ensure staff compliance in responding to the Random Moment in Time Study.
- Maintain knowledge of current Board Policy, Federal legislation, state regulations and district procedures regarding all aspects of the implementation of SHARS/Medicaid.
- Train and support staff with understanding SHARS activities, including using the online Medicaid billing application, understanding personal care services, documentation of services in a timely manner, and ARD documentation to support the student’s need for the services.
- Ensure parental consents are obtained and are on file.
- Collaborate with transportation, school psychologists, speech and language pathologists, and other related service providers and staff on documentation of SHARS activities.
- Oversee job duties for Revenue Recovery Specialist.
- Communicate effectively with outside representatives to ensure district compliance in Medicaid billing.
- Respond and organize any audits from state governmental agencies.
- Update skills as needed and directed.
Other
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
