What are the responsibilities and job description for the CMM Inspector - First Shift position at ALIGN PRECISION?
1st Shift - 7:30 am - 3:30 pm
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Perform inspection(s) of products to determine conformance to all specifications
- Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines using pre-written programs
- Set-up in accordance with pre-established part set-up instructions
- Qualify CMM probes using established calibration routines
- Evaluate inspection results to determine conformance to requirements
- Utilize various manual measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, height gages, indicators and other hand-held measuring devices
- Utilize other vision-based equipment such as Optical Comparators, Microscopes or 2D profilers for measurement of parts or part characteristics
- Understand and perform to all current quality standards
- Prepare and update Company and Customer inspection records as required
- Communicate inspection results effectively with co-workers and supervisors
- Understand GD T concepts including Maximum Material Condition, True Position and Profile of Surface tolerances
- Understand basic statistical techniques sufficient for evaluation of measurement data trends
- Have a basic understanding of machining processes sufficient to support communication of findings to the production floor
- Train others on inspection techniques and tools when required
- Perform safe operation of CMM machines
- Accurately complete all required paperwork
- Ensure the proper filing of inspection results on the company server
- Keep machines and work area clean and organized at all times
- Perform basic weekly and daily maintenance of CMM machines
- Abide by and support all safety and quality system requirements
- Provide good feedback and promote good communication with other inspectors from multiple shifts, Quality Engineers, Process Engineers and Machinists

Education and/or Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience operating CMMs
- Programming and operation experience using PCDMIS driven CMMs is highly desirable
Language Skills
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
