Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for the accounting and reporting, which is made up primarily of loans on residential properties, as well as residential mortgage-backed securities. Responsibilities include overseeing the loan portfolio, preparing monthly journal entries, reconciliations of roll forwards and reports to activity, variance analysis, and quarter and year-end financial schedules and related footnotes. This position will have an active role in the month-end close and reporting process. Strict attention to detail is critical in this role, as is meeting deadlines.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare all accounting entries related to assigned areas and ensure the accuracy of accounts and balances
• Prepare monthly variance explanations for significant fluctuations of actual vs. planned results and trend analyses.
• Assist in preparation of quarterly and year-end financial schedules and related footnotes with adherence to departmental deadlines
• Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations
• Make recommendations to improve existing processes
• Assist with special projects/requests as necessary
Knowledge and Skills:
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines
• Must be detail oriented with good communication and interpersonal abilities
• Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word
• PeopleSoft experience is a plus
• Skilled in trend analysis and explanation
• Ability to adapt to and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Masters preferred)
• CPA preferred or in process of completion
• 2 to 4 years in Public accounting preferred
