Our client is a small direct mail production company specializing in non-profit outreach campaigns. They work with a wide range of mission-driven non-profit organizations whose causes include environmental conservancy, women’s rights, refugee support and resettlement, animal welfare, food security and housing. The Prepress / Print Coordinator supports the activities of the Print Department while training in the entire range of departmental services for a project. Take your graphic design and commercial printing experience to the next level!
Responsibilities:
- Analyzing designer draft art for production and/or postal issues
- Preflight final designer art files to ensure print ready.
- Preparing and sending out purchase orders with pre-flighted art to winning suppliers – accuracy in the fine details counts.
- Checking supplier proofs against supplied art and forwarding on to our clients for final approval, always using a friendly and professional tone.
- Tracking delivery schedules and production timelines while keeping all individuals on a specific project updated.
- **In-office (10%) - Quality check print samples and hard copy proofs delivered to main office. File print samples into binder sample library and department log. Our office dog loves to offer her help.
- Log and check supplier invoices against final project POs, and when approved - forwarding on to Account Managers for processing.
- Art alteration / graphic design – Correcting supplied artwork to make print ready without production issues, creating personalization mockups, and ensuring all follow client brand guidelines.

- Reviewing print and mail specs for technical and/or postal issues
- Assist with drafting print and letter shop bids for Print Department when needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in commercial offset and digital printing (bonus points for mail knowledge).
- Fully PC literate with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
- Fully MAC literate with experience using the Adobe Creative Suite (bonus points for QuarkXpress knowledge).
- Understanding of both Pantone (PMS) and CMYK color spaces with the importance of keeping client branding colors consistent. Comfortable using paper books, swatch books and understanding color builds.
- Attention to detail – Finding those hard to catch typos / extra spaces, keeping an eye out for layout, font or color issues.
- Ability to take direction and change gears quickly, multitask.
- Ability to retain knowledge of processes and specific job details.
- Ability to problem solve and work independently.
- Trustworthy and dependable with excellent organizational and time management skills.
