The Market Strategy Advisor (MSA) is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the strategic direction and growth of our business through market coverage expansion, partnership building, and optimizing referral management. This role is central to shaping the future of our organization by identifying and capitalizing on market opportunities, fostering valuable partnerships with healthcare providers, and ensuring seamless integration of business development strategies across multiple regions.
The MSA will serve as a leader and coach, supporting internal and external teams, guiding them in sales techniques, and fostering cross-functional collaboration. People development to ensure excellence in execution is paramount for this role. By working with both clinical and business development teams, you will ensure that referral processes are streamlined, relationships are strengthened, and that we continue to deliver on our mission of providing high-quality care and service to our communities. MSAs have direct leadership responsibility for the Admissions Director and their functions as well as the External Hospital Liaison Teams.
As an MSA, you will be at the forefront of improving referral processes, enhancing operational efficiencies, and driving market growth. You will work closely with key stakeholders—including Managed Plans, Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), hospital systems, and internal teams—to develop and execute strategies that not only expand our market presence but also strengthen our relationships with partners to achieve long-term business success. This role requires a strategic mindset and the ability to evaluate current partnerships, identify new opportunities, and implement innovative solutions that align with our organizational goals. You will play a key role in the development and execution of initiatives that drive business growth while ensuring we remain adaptable to the ever-changing healthcare landscape.
Responsibilities
Coaching & Leadership: Develop people and teams to ensure excellence in execution at all levels. Lead and mentor internal and external business development teams, coaching them on effective sales techniques and promoting a collaborative approach to achieving business objectives. Foster a culture of high performance, accountability, and teamwork.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with market leaders, patient navigation teams, and post-acute care teams to ensure seamless coordination across functions and markets. Drive cross-market initiatives to address challenges and improve the referral and admission process.
Referral Management & Process Optimization: Develop and implement strategies to optimize referral management, ensuring the efficient and effective handling of CAD responses to referrals. Enhance the timeliness and accuracy of communication with partners to improve response rates and overall efficiency.
Market Expansion: Identify opportunities to expand market coverage by developing comprehensive strategies to target new hospitals and facilities. Prioritize key markets and build tailored initiatives that support long-term growth objectives.
Partnership Development: Build and nurture strategic relationships with Managed Plans, ACOs, healthcare providers, and other key stakeholders to drive collaboration, enhance service offerings, and secure favorable contract terms.
Business Growth & Innovation: Drive business growth through strategic initiatives that focus on increasing referral volumes, enhancing operational performance, and adapting to market changes. Implement innovative strategies that ensure sustained revenue growth and enhanced market position.
Data-Driven Strategy: Leverage data analytics to inform strategic decisions, measure success, and drive performance improvement. Ensure that all strategies are supported by solid data and aligned with business objectives.
Continuous Improvement: Continuously assess market conditions and operational processes to identify areas for improvement. Implement changes and initiatives that enhance overall business performance, improve client relationships, and foster business growth. This individual will serve as a Managed Care Authorization expert, supporting ASA’s and Authorization Specialists in executing processes that drive reimbursement outcomes. This includes ensuring accurate rate capture, optimizing front-end processes, and fostering purposeful collaboration with the business office to align financial and operational goals.
Qualifications
Proven experience in business development, strategic planning, or a related leadership role within healthcare or post-acute care environments.
Strong expertise in market analysis, partnership building, and driving growth within complex healthcare systems.
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence key stakeholders and drive collaboration.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and execute strategic initiatives that result in measurable business outcomes.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, make informed decisions, and adjust strategies accordingly.
A deep understanding of healthcare regulations, reimbursement models, and trends in the healthcare industry.
Proficiency with CRM systems, data analysis tools, and other business development technologies.
Willingness to travel to support market initiatives and foster relationships with key stakeholders.
