ELEMENTARY CLASSROOM TEACHER MULTI-GRADED
PRIMARY FUNCTION
To provide an educational program for pupils in a multi-graded setting and assist on other school programs as assigned. To follow the academic program as outlined in the adopted Course of Study and to deviate from same when necessary to provide for the individual difference of the students.
DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO:
Building Principal
RESPONSIBILITIES
To teach the course of study adopted by County Board of Education as assigned by the building principal.
To provide planned learning experiences in order to motivate pupils and best utilize the available time for instruction.
To develop lesson plans, instructional materials and teaching methods in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of individual pupils.
To establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom and provide guidance in developing qualities of good citizenship.
To evaluate pupil's academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, prepare progress reports and communicate with parents on the individual pupil's progress through home visitations and/or teacher-parent conferences.
To identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems.
To create, from pupils, a functional and attractive environment for learning through displays, bulletin boards and interest centers.
To participate in in-service educational activities provided by the District.
To perform basic attendance accounting and business services.
To develop with the principal the guidelines by which the teachers will be evaluated.
To maintain appropriate records for compliance in all special projects.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
To select and requisition books, instructional aides and supplies and maintain required inventory.
To insure a comfortable room environment through control of heating, lighting and ventilation to the extent possible.
To supervise pupils in out-of-class activities during the working day, as assigned, according to law.
To administer group standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.
To participate in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school of assignment or on a district level.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
To share in the sponsorship of student activities and participate on faculty committees.
To cooperate with other professional staff members and classified personnel.
To plan and coordinate the work of aides, teacher assistants and other para-professionals.
To maintain professional competence through self-selected professional growth activities.
