Job Summary
The Human Resources Generalist provides administrative support to the daily functions of the human resources department processes and provides support in consultation with management. This role processes recruitment and benefit plans, enforces company policies and regulations, and acts as a liaison between employees and insurance providers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducts recruitment and onboarding process by coordinating requisition, job posting, and new hire orientation, etc.
- Process Personnel Action Forms (PAF) for employee status change (hiring, promotion, termination) in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), ensuring approvals.
- Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation, maintains I-9 files and reports new hires and terminations to agencies as OAG.
- Assist with new hires and annual pre-screening processes such as drug and background checks.
- Ensures compliance with applicable government regulations.
- Process benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations. Processes required documents through HRIS and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
- Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries.
- Assist with the open enrollment process with HRIS and benefits databases and coordinate COBRA.
- Review monthly billing to be ready for approval and correct discrepancies to be ready for payment processing.
- Performs routine tasks assisting with leaves, FMLA administration, and other benefits.
- Process unemployment cases and workers' compensation claims.
- Coordinates and manages the training on the Learning Management System (Relias LMS).
- Ensures compliance with applicable government regulations.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Required Education and Experience:

- Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Thorough knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Title VII, DOL requirements, etc.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Required/Preferred Education and Experience
- • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field of study required.
- Three years of work experience in Human Resources and benefits administration required or five years of experience.
