SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, or authorized designee, the Health Information Technology (HIT) Supervisor is responsible for managerial functions of planning, directing, organizing, and staffing the Health Information Technology department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  •  Lead cross-functional teams to plan, implement, and support the deployment of Centricity EMR/PM, Health IT technologies (i.e. patient portal /population health tools), and all IT related projects.
  • Serve as liaison to network level clinical and IT staff to maintain and enhance EMR operations at health center; communicate updates and activities internally to appropriate parties; assist network level staff to solicit end user  feedback.
  •  Proactively identify ways to optimize utilization by staff and providers.
  •   Work with third-party organizations, including but not limited to the Alliance of Chicago, GE Healthcare, and Visualutions, to open and follow through on support tickets towards resolutions. Work within the EMR departmental staff and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with the EMR.
  • Dynamically assist managers in developing efficient workflows and monitoring operational needs of EMR with other clinical interfaces.
  •   Co-manage all EMR down-times and the resulting impact to clinical operations.
  •  Coordinate the design, optimization and implementation of system enhancements, new tools and upgrades
  •  Supports level one help desk operations. Maintain ongoing issues list and actively work to bring resolution to open items. Escalate issues to network level as appropriate and serves as liaison to resolve issues.
  •  Manages user requests by utilizing SysAid ticketing system and provides timely status updates.
  •  Provides technical support for desktop, laptop, software, and printers.
  • Coordinate and conduct staff trainings, including onboarding of new staff.
  •   Manage Active Directory network, which involves creating and modifying accounts and groups, modifying group memberships, establishing permissions, resetting passwords, and ensuring proper access to network resources such as mailboxes, files shares, and printers.
  • Perform desktop and laptop imaging.
  •  Trouble shoot and resolve Virtual Private Network (VPN) and RDS connectivity issues for remote users.
  •  Performs all other related duties as assigned.


 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages and supervises staff listed below, including hiring, training, evaluating and managing performance to meet departmental efficiency and performance measures in keeping with the Personnel Policies and Procedures and prevailing employment laws as appropriate.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

OSHA Category 3 – Involves no regular exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, and tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues are not a condition of employment.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, healthcare administration, informatics or related field. The equivalent of education and prior experience, in lieu of a BA degree, may also be considered.

Certification or Licensure:

  • RHIT/RHIA

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year within an ambulatory healthcare setting with use of an EMR.

  • Must have proven ability to effectively problem solve and manage complex projects.
  •  Must possess excellent communication skills with the ability to follow-up and develop positive relationships with providers, staff and external parties.

  •   Understands and values vision of health center

Salary Range: $55,000.00-$62,000.00 Based on qualifications and experience.
