Major Responsibilities: Identify proper patient to be transported by checking armband
This position can recognize needs and behaviors of all age groups. Evidence of this can be shown by recognizing levels of development and modifying approach and exhibiting communication skills necessary to interpret age specific responses.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available.
Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Report patient safety events and near misses in timely fashion Adhere to all behavioral and procedural patient safety practices Promote culture of safety through identifying threats to patient safety and intervening to prevent patient harm Communicate openly and promote team work Report intimidating behavior and other threats to patient safety promptly This job description indicates the general nature and level of work expected of the incumbent. - Make sure mode of transport is appropriate to patient’s condition
- Make sure proper precautions are taken for each patient, i.e., oxygen, I-med, foley catheter, chest tube, etc
- Make sure patient is properly covered to protect their privacy 4) Make sure oxygen tanks are filled daily.
- Instruct and help new transport staff so they are properly trained
- Make sure any pertinent patient information is relayed to supervisor or proper department/technician
- Make sure supervisor or departments are aware of any delays in getting patients
- Demonstrate a knowledge of institutional policies regarding patient care, fire, safety, infection control, etc. Review department manuals and sign-off supplement
- Make sure carts are clean and sheets are in place at all times. Report any cart or wheelchair that is not working properly and in need of repair
- Be able to make film copies.
- Look up and file patient folders; also write new folders out. 12) Should be able to deal with stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.
