What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood - Teacher Assistant/Aide position at All About Kids of Oakley?
The Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting the Lead Teacher in daily classroom duties, building relationships
with parents and families, and guiding the development of children within their care. The Assistant Teacher is also
responsible for assuring compliance with the rules of all state licensing regulations and company policy. The
assistant teacher works professionally with all other staff members and the administration team to ensure success
for every child at All About Kids.
Duties
● Maintains a safe and secure environment for all children by being knowledgeable of all children in attendance
and under our daily care by doing name to face checks, head counts and checking roll calls of all children
checked in to the classroom for the day.
● Assists in developing weekly lesson plans and implementing age-appropriate curriculum to stimulate all
domains of development of the children in their care.
● Assists in providing a developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
● Assists in performing on-going developmental evaluations of children and implementing lessons that address
the individual needs of each child.
● Assists in planning, evaluating, and improving the physical environment in the classroom to meet the changing
needs of the developing child.
● Provide responsive care to all children by adapting daily care-giving routines to the interests and needs of each
child.
● Demonstrate cultural competency and respect for the child’s background by helping to incorporate cultural
values into the program.
● Assist with child orientation and transition of the classroom with administration and parents.
● Maintains on-going open communication with parents.
● Ensure that each family receives an opportunity to build strong relationships and communication with teachers.
● Assist with maintaining accurate and timely child records.
● Assists with keeping the classroom environment sanitary and organized throughout the day by cleaning.
● Assists in completing daily health checks regarding hygiene, safety, and overall well-being of the children.
● Assures a healthy, safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate environment for children.
● Staff must believe in and act in accordance with both state regulations and the program’s mission statement.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of professional child care experience.(Preferred)
- High energy.
- Ability to work well with others.
- An understanding of child development.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- High School Diploma (Required)
- Child Development Associate (Preferred)
- Clean FBI/BCI background check
