Job Summary:
The Credentialing Coordinator is responsible for managing and overseeing the insurance credentialing and re-credentialing process for occupational and speech therapists. This role ensures that all therapists maintain compliance with insurance providers, regulatory agencies, and organizational standards. The coordinator will work closely with therapists, insurance companies, and administrative staff to facilitate timely approvals and renewals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage the credentialing and re-credentialing process for occupational and speech therapists.
- Prepare, submit, and track credentialing applications with various insurance payers and regulatory agencies.
- Maintain and update credentialing records, licenses, certifications, and insurance contracts.
- Communicate with insurance companies and managed care organizations to ensure timely credentialing approvals.
- Monitor expiration dates for licenses, certifications, and contracts to prevent lapses in credentialing status.
- Troubleshoot and resolve credentialing issues that may arise with insurance providers.
- Develop and maintain a database of therapist credentialing documentation and requirements.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation regulations regarding credentialing and insurance participation.
- Provide ongoing support to therapists regarding credentialing requirements and procedures.
- Collaborate with billing and administrative teams to ensure accurate provider enrollment with insurance networks.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in medical credentialing, provider enrollment, or healthcare administration required.
- Strong knowledge of insurance credentialing processes and regulations.
- Familiarity with occupational and speech therapy credentialing requirements is a plus.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and credentialing software.
