Job Title: Residential Manager
Location: Chesapeake, VA
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Required to cover other shifts as needed)
Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Manager to oversee daily operations and provide exceptional care for individuals in a group home setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with individuals with developmental disabilities and possess strong leadership and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct supervision of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) working in the group home.
- Oversee staff documentation, performance, and compliance with policies and regulations.
- Create and maintain staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
- Assist with interviews, onboarding, and training of DSPs.
- Conduct staff meetings as needed.
- Organize and facilitate client activities and schedules to promote engagement and independence.
- Serve as an on-call contact for emergency situations as needed.
- Coordinate with the risk manager to investigate abuse allegations or complaints.
- Ensure that serious incidents are reported to the Director immediately.
- Develop and maintain a weekly menu for the group home.
- Manage resident medications and physician appointments.
- Administer medication and monitor its effectiveness.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, etc.).
- Ensure that residents' rights are respected and upheld at all times.
- Coordinate and oversee DSP activities and schedules.
- Respond to emergencies or medical situations in a calm and efficient manner.
- Foster a positive and supportive environment for residents and their families.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Associate’s Degree (or higher) in Human Services or a related field preferred.
- Three years of direct care experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- At least two years of documented supervisory experience is required.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to analyze situations, develop creative solutions, and respond quickly and calmly in crisis situations.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Background check free of barrier crimes.
