Job description
This role is responsible for building, testing & troubleshooting composite assemblies and sub-assemblies as part of the aerospace composites production process. Position requires working efficiently from standard procedures and specifications, and inspecting in-process products for quality, is a hands-on role, whose primary responsibility is to build composite structures that meet company design specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Producing a conforming product.
- Re-working any identified non-conforming product and submit for re-inspection
- Align, fit, and assemble component parts, using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and templates
- Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, manufacturing instructions, and work orders to determine methods and sequences of assembly
- Repair, rework, and calibrate assemblies and systems to meet specifications and tolerances
- Verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments
- Monitor and review processes, materials, and work environment to detect or assess problems
- Identifies and corrects common process problems
- Read and interpret work instructions.
- Mold surface preparation and maintenance.
- Composites material kitting.
- Perform lamination of pre-preg composite materials.
- Assemble/disassemble molds to yield conforming composite structures.
- Perform vacuum bagging operations of small to medium composite structures.
- Complete trimming/sanding operations, yielding close tolerances, using fixtures and various hand tools.
Qualifications
- Must be able to interpret drawings.
- Know how to use hand tools and machines.
- Proficiency with various inspection tools including: calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, etc.

- High attention to detail: Multiple pieces makes up the overall layup of parts. Each must be placed accurately and oriented correctly. Must be able to quickly spot and address flaws in raw material.
- Hand dexterity/coordination: Job requires a lot of specific finger movements and hand layup techniques.
- Organization: Must be able to keep track of various parts during process
- Cleanliness: Parts can be sensitive to foreign materials, must be able to keep a clean workspace.
- Safety-Minded: Team needs people who are putting safety first and realize how important it is to take care around certain machinery/equipment.
- Writing Comprehension: Important to be able to read and comprehend the work instructions and job orders that will be handled.
- Computer Literacy a plus: Team member will have to use several computer interfaces to record and manage production as they layup production parts.

· Requires hand manipulation including simple grasping, pushing, and pulling of materials.
· Must be able to reach and work above and below the shoulder level.
· Must be able to work with and around forklifts and hazardous machinery.
· Must be able to wear all the required Personal Protective Equipment.
· Visual acuity skill to detect any flaws in the parts being inspected.
· Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - Required Safety Glasses
