Health and Safety Specialist
Location: Various Client locations in CT, NY, MA, RI
All-American Rescue & Safety Solutions, LLC, (AARSS) is looking for a Health and Safety Specialist
(HSS) to work full-time as a consultant at numerous client’s construction and general industry sites
throughout New England. This position will start out with a 1-2 Year assignment with potential extension.
Our clients’ projects are estimated to be completed in two to three years. In this position you’ll assist in
providing technical support and site safety oversight. The HSS will be responsible for the enforcement of
our client’s Health and Safety Plans and for providing safety oversight and support to large-scale
construction projects, various safety assessments and audits.
Job Responsibilities:
- The Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for executing safety initiatives across assigned AARS
clients, to enhance the safety culture and identify, evaluate, and control risks necessary to drive
Safety performance and operating efficiency.
- Responsible for daily morning debrief with subcontractors.
- Tracks completion of weekly Construction Inspection Forms and gathers data for reporting based
off of information found during inspections.
- Aids in creation of new site documentation including, but not limited to: LOTO Procedures,
Toolbox Talks, Machine Guarding, Confined Space, and other client Technical Standards.
- Assists with all orientation and training to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Gathers and organizes data for reports.
- Ensures that site and Corporate Safety Data Sheet database is updated.
- Assists with audits, assessments, surveys, etc. of the various Health and Safety programs such as:
Excavation, Confined Spaces, Fall Protection, PPE, Rigging, Cranes, etc.
- Assist in maintaining recording keeping for near misses, first aid, property damage, and incidents
beyond first aid.
- Collect and file all permits and JHA’s submitted to the General Contractor.
- Performs daily construction tours of the site to ensure OSHA compliance.
- Provides timely feedback to the internal customer or Environmental concerns or safety issues
brought up by internal customers.
- Attending training for OSHA for personal development if requested.
- All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Relevant certifications in occupational health and safety (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, OSHA 30-hour,
etc.).
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively convey safety information to
diverse project stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Knowledge of emergency response procedures and first aid/CPR certification.
- Familiarity with environmental safety regulations related to construction and power plant operations.
- Ability to conduct site inspections, which may involve walking, climbing, and lifting.
- Physical fitness and the capability to respond to emergency situations.
- Visual and auditory acuity to identify potential safety hazards and communicate effectively in a noisy
industrial environment.
- Flexibility to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, as necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.
- 5 years of experience in health and safety management, preferably in power plant, construction, or industrial
settings.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices, particularly in construction.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Accredited Board of Certified Safety Professionals (ASP, CHST, CSP)
- OSHA 510 Construction Course
- OSHA 500 Construction Trainer Course
